위성항법시스템은 정확한 위치 및 시각 정보 등을 제공하는 위성 기반 전파항법시스템이다. 오늘날 국방을 비롯한 다양한 민간 분야에서 사회경제적 파급효과를 창출하고 있으며 4차 산업혁명 시대의 도래와 함께 관련 시장규모 또한 급속히 성장 중이다. 이에 미국, 러시아, 유럽, 중국, 일본, 인도 등 주요 선진국에서는 위성항법시스템을 운영 또는 개발 중이며 우리나라에서도 개발 계획을 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 현재 우리나라가 계획 중인 한국형 위성항법시스템(KPS) 개발사업에 대해 간략히 소개한다.

Korean Positioning System Development Plan

The satellite navigation system is a satellite-based system that provides accurate location and time information. Today, it has various social and economic ripple effects, and the related market size is also growing rapidly in the era of the 4th industrial revolution. Therefore, major advanced countries such as the United States, Russia, Europe, China, Japan, and India are operating or developing their own satellite navigation systems, and Korea also has a development plan. In this paper, we briefly introduce the Korean Positioning System (KPS) development project currently planned by the Korean government.
