Key Performance Metrics for Navigation Payload Verification

Navigation payloads for satellite-based navigation systems play a crucial role in determining the quality of transmitted navigation signals and the resulting positioning performance of users. Imperfections in the payload system transfer characteristics can introduce amplitude and phase distortions across the signal bandwidth, which affect receiver tracking behavior and measurement accuracy. This paper investigates key performance metrics for navigation payload verification, focusing on correlation loss, S-curve bias, group delay variation, and payload system transfer characteristics. The relationships between payload system transfer characteristics and receiver correlation properties are conceptually analyzed from a signal processing perspective. The presented discussion aims to highlight essential performance metrics and their relationships for navigation payload verification and can support signal quality assessment and payload design for satellite navigation systems.
