Design of a Test Receiver for Long-Term Performance Assessment of Navigation Satellite Payloads

To provide reliable and precise positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) services to users, global navigation satellite system (GNSS) payloads must transmit navigation signals stably and accurately while
minimizing unexpected timing delays and signal distortions. Therefore, it is essential to assess the quality of navigation signals generated by the payloads prior to satellite launch. This paper presents the design
of a payload test receiver, which is a real-time hardware receiver intended for long-term (e.g., a few hours or days) performance assessment. Functional architectures for processing navigation signals and
generating key measurements (e.g., correlation losses, code delays, S-curve biases) are proposed. A test plan and procedure using the receiver are briefly introduced. It is expected that this study will
contribute to the development and validation technologies of navigation satellite payloads.
