Evaluation of GNSS Positioning Accuracy Using Satellite Position Alignment Under Time Offset Conditions

This study evaluates the positioning accuracy of a user employing a low-cost commercial Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receiver when a time offset exists between the reference station and the user receiver. Recently, research on Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) utilizing Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites has been actively conducted worldwide. Conventional GNSS systems mainly consist of Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) satellites, where the impact of time offset in low-cost receivers is relatively small. However, for LEO satellites, the lower orbital altitude and rapid satellite motion can increase satellite position estimation errors when time offset exists between the reference station and the user receiver, which may degrade positioning performance. As a preliminary study, positioning accuracy is compared before and after applying satellite position correction when time offset exists between a low-cost user receiver and a high-grade reference receiver.
