Validation Approaches for Controlled Reception Pattern Antenna (CRPA) Systems: A Comparative Study
Mohamed Tamazin*, Pierre-Marie Le Veel, Quentin Ceruti, Sylvain Dessapt, Patrick Beaulieu
Controlled Reception Pattern Antennas (CRPAs) are essential for safeguarding GNSS systems in defense and security contexts by mitigating the effects of jamming and spoofing. This paper
examines various approaches for validating CRPA systems, with a particular focus on testing methods such as Wavefront simulators and Anechoic Chambers. These systems are evaluated for
handling interference and maintaining accurate satellite signal reception. Key performance parameters are analyzed, including phase alignment, jamming and spoofing resistance, scalability, and
encrypted signal support. The advantages and limitations of each validation method are outlined, demonstrating their suitability for different testing requirements. While Anechoic Chambers
facilitate full-system testing, Wavefront simulators offer greater flexibility in replicating complex interference scenarios. These methods provide valuable tools for engineers and program managers
to ensure the effective operation of CRPA systems in real-world environments.
