Ingredients for Precise Positioning: Galileo HAS and Ultra Low Bandwidth PLL

Thomas Pany*, Jürgen Dampf, Mohamed Bochkati

The talk discusses the contributions of UniBwM and TUM towards precise positioning for vehicles. First a performance assessment of the Galileo High Accuracy Service (HAS) is given focusing on open sky scenarios. To realize this high performance in adverse conditions (e.g. urban areas) synthetic GNSS antennas (realized via a PLL of ultra-low bandwidth) can be used. The PLL receives aiding from user motion and from a cooperative clock estimation unit. The results from real and simulated data shed light on the potential and limitations of Galileo HAS usage in urban areas.

Keywords: navigation signal processing (GNSS, 4G-6G, satcom, SoO), inertial navigation, sensor fusion, estimation theory, GNSS signal design, LEO-PNT
