Dimensioning Parameters for Anti-jamming and Controlled Radiation Pattern Antenna Systems
Franck LETESTU, David Depraz*

Jamming issues have been of great importance during the last years and several anti-jamming systems have been presented to overcome the problem. Controlled Radiation Pattern Antenna is considered as the most efficient anti-jamming protection and it additionally deals with large subsets of jamming conditions (wideband, narrowband…). The paper discusses the key drivers to be taken into account when choosing a CRPA system. It will demonstrate that the number of elements in the antenna array is not the only important parameter for anti-jamming performances. Other parameters are described and discussed with operational performances in perspective, such as the choice of the algorithm and its implementation (refresh rate, iterative or snapshot). Once aware of such key parameters, it is obvious that the tests of such systems and the operational assessments are not a straightforward task: mission planning simulators and dedicated test benches are necessary to have a clear view of the overall picture.
