GBAS/ATDCP RAIM for Civil Aviation Surface Movement Navigation and Integrity Monitoring

Aircraft operations at airport rely on visual surveillance despite of the use of Surface Movement Radar (SMR) and ADS-B. Therefore, low-visibility conditions caused by snowstorms and fog can significantly affect the continuous operation of aircraft at airports. Moreover, safety risks such as runway excursions and ground collisions can occur during civil aircraft surface movement after landing, particularly under low- visibility conditions. The conventional GNSS-based Ground Based Augmentation System (GBAS) is limited in surface applications due to multipath vulnerability inherent to pseudorange-based positioning. Carrier phase–based Relative Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitoring (RRAIM) has been proposed to mitigate multipath effects; however, its performance degrades over time due to cycle slips and the limited usability of newly visible satellites. To address these limitations, this paper investigates a Time-Differenced Carrier Phase (TDCP) RAIM scheme for surface movement navigation. For various fault magnitudes, navigation accuracy and fault detection performance are analyzed to identify the fault size most threatening to integrity assurance.
