Development of RFSoC-based Navigation Signal Generation Platform

With the recent advancements in Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technology, the importance of platforms capable of generating and verifying complex multi-band navigation signals in real-time has emerged. Conventional heterodyne-based signal generators suffer from bulky hardware and a vulnerability to phase noise due to multi-stage analog frequency conversions. In addition, designs utilizing standard FPGAs (Field Programmable Gate Arrays) necessitate complex interface integration with external high-speed DACs (Digital-to-Analog Converters), leading to increased power consumption and data bottlenecks. Therefore, this paper proposes an RFSoC (Radio Frequency System-on-Chip)-based GNSS signal generation platform capable of synthesizing RF signals directly from the baseband. The proposed platform eliminates external interface bottlenecks by integrating ultra-high-speed data converters into a single chip. Furthermore, it achieves precise time and phase synchronization across multi-channel navigation signals within a single chip utilizing the built-in Multi-Tile Synchronization (MTS) feature.
