In this paper, we study on the indoor location determination and event processing based on Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) of BLE device. Recently, there are lots of studies on the indoor location determination have been using Wi-Fi and accelerometer. However, these approaches have a problem that Wi-Fi consumes a lot of power. In order to solve this disadvantage, we use Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) for location determination. To determine whether BLE devices can be used for location determination, first we mount four BLE devices at the edge of the wall and next measure their RSSI indices between a smartphone and BLE devices. Using the measured position, the specific events can be occurred. Specifically, when a user goes to the specific zone, smartphone app displays an image corresponding the zone. From the experimental results, we verify that BLE devices can be appropriately used in location determination and event processing.
