Design and Performance Evaluation of Transportation Safety System in the Kyungin ARA Waterway

Ships that operated on the waterways consider various things relating to the safety and decide whether the sail beforehand. Especially in order to avoid conflicts, the height of bridges in the waterway and the ship should be considered. But if water level is dramatically increased when falling the downpour and ship could not detect, there is a risk that is crashed into the bridge and ship. In this paper, transportation safety system for ferry that operated in Kyungin ARA waterway is designed. This system consist control system with standalone GPS receiver and database included ship and bridges. For verifying operation of proposed system, GPS data measured in Kyungin ARA waterway are used.
